Unfortunately, all routes for the 2024 edition are full. Next year, the Night of the Refugee will take place on the weekend of June 14-15, 2025. You can register here:
How long have I got to register?
You can register up to two weeks before the event, if there are still places available. From April onwards, registrations is going very fast and the routes can be filled quickly.
How can I form a team?
There are various options when you register. You can join an existing team or create a new team. The person who forms a team is the team captain and automatically gets two pages to supervise; a team page and their own individual page. All sums raised on the individual pages (including other team members) are automatically calculated on the team page.
Is there a maximum size for a team?
You can walk with as many people as you like. You can continue adding to your team as long as the registration remains open.
I registered as an individual participant but now I want to join a team, is that possible?
Yes of course! Mail us the name you’re participating under and the team you want to join. Or if you want to start your own team, mail us the name you want to call your team.
I would like to walk a different distance and change it, is this possible?
As long as there are still places available on your desired route, this is possible up to two weeks before the event. You can change the distance yourself on your personal page until May 1. After May 1, we can change this for you if you send us a message.
How can I deregister?
You may find yourself in a situation that you need to pull out. You can cancel your registration by sending us a message. Unfortunately, we cannot refund your contributions.
Are children allowed to take part in the Night of the Refugee?
Everyone can take part in the Night of the Refugee. Note that on the 40-kilometer route we require participants aged 18 and under to be accompanied by at least one registered adult participant.
When do I get my e-ticket?
Every partcipant will receive their persona; e-ticket around the 1st of June by e-mail. Every participant must register individually to receive a valid e-ticket. Also participants who are part of a team.
Until when can I sponsor participants?
After the Night of the Refugee it will be possible to sponsor participants until 1 September 2024.
What transaction costs apply for a donation?
The Refugee Foundations pays service costs to Buckeroo & Kentaa who run the website and ensure that the donations are properly processed.
The fee The Refugee Foundations pays per donation is 77 cents. To limit the impact, we ask you to contribute to the costs.
Can I donate from abroad?
It’s getting easier to donate from abroad. Using our donation module, you can donate to the Night of the Refugee from abroad quickly and without any problem. As long as you have an IBAN number you can always donate from abroad! This year we introduced a credit card option. Note that your credit card may not yet be accepted by our Buckeroo payment system.
I sponsored a participant but it doesn’t show on their profile page, what should I do?
Send us a message stating the name of the person you want to sponsor and your own first name and surname. We’ll resolve the problem for you as soon as we can.
What happens to the money raised?
All the money raised on the Night of the Refugee goes to The Refugee Foundation (Stichting Vluchteling) projects. Check out how the money we raised in past years was spent.
